Juan José Camacho Pérez, known as Catela, has become a true sensation in world futsal, transforming from a player criticized for being overweight into one of the most deadly wingers on the planet. Born on 14 April 1995 in Cádiz, Catela made his debut in the top division with Jerez 1993, then played for Zaragoza, Santiago, Palma and Valdepeñas. In March 2022 he signed for Barcelona and in his first season won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. The real breakthrough came in the 2023/24 season, when Catela became a key figure in the Blaugrana lineup. He was named MVP of the 2024 Spanish Cup final, and his goals helped the team lift the trophy. At the 2024 World Championship in Uzbekistan, Catela scored a hat-trick in 8 minutes during the second half against New Zealand, finishing in a 7-1 rout, and was named Player of the Match. In the 2024 Spanish Cup quarter-final against Xota, he scored a brace to secure a 2-1 victory. On 6 January 2025, Catela provided three assists in a Copa del Rey match against Osasuna, which ended in a 5-3 win. In 14 months he transformed from a laughing stock into the main star of Spanish futsal and signed a contract with Barcelona until 2026. He is regarded as the main contender for the title of best winger in the world, second only to Brazilian Dyego, his teammate at Barcelona.
