Inter Milan 3-4 Club Brugge: Tresoldi hat-trick stuns San Siro as Sommer haunts former club

Club Brugge produced one of the biggest upsets of the Champions League league phase, beating Inter Milan 4-3 at the San Siro as 22-year-old Nicolo Tresoldi scored a stunning hat-trick. The Italian-German forward, who has not yet decided whether to represent Italy or Germany at senior level, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute after Hakan Calhanoglu fouled Carlos Forbs. Lautaro Martinez equalised for Inter on the stroke of half-time, converting Federico Dimarco's backheel assist. But the game turned dramatically after the break when Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez rushed wildly out of his area, Forbs intercepted and squared for Tresoldi to roll into an empty net. The striker completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute, reacting quickest after Martinez parried Forbs' shot. Lautaro pulled one back in the 81st minute, but substitute Romeo Vermant restored Brugge's two-goal cushion in the 87th minute after another Forbs assist. Ange-Yoan Bonny made it 4-3 in stoppage time, but it was too late. Former Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who won the treble with the Nerazzurri in 2025, was excellent for Brugge. Inter remain without a point after two matches, while Brugge climb to 18th with three points. Can Inter recover from this crisis.
