Deportivo 3-1 Valencia: Depor stun Valencia with first-half blitz at Riazor (full highlights)

Deportivo La Coruña secured their first win of the La Liga season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Valencia at the Riazor, delighting the home faithful who had waited patiently for a breakthrough after two opening draws. The hosts made a blistering start, racing into a two-goal lead inside the first 17 minutes and completely overwhelming the visitors. Cesar Tarrega opened the scoring on 13 minutes, firing a powerful strike from outside the box into the far corner after Valencia's defence failed to clear their lines. Just four minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead after Mario Soriano's clever through-ball, slotting calmly past the Valencia keeper into an empty net. Umar Sadiq pulled one back for the visitors on 26 minutes with a precise finish from the edge of the box after a driving run down the right flank, giving his side a lifeline. But the game was effectively settled on 59 minutes when Valencia defender Mouctar Diakhaby turned the ball into his own net under pressure from a corner, restoring Deportivo's two-goal cushion. Diakhaby was booked on 64 minutes for a foul in midfield. In stoppage time, Adrià Altimira received two yellow cards in quick succession for dissent and was sent off, leaving Valencia with ten men. The statistics show Deportivo had 14 shots with 6 on target and 41% possession, while Valencia registered 16 attempts with 5 on target despite dominating possession with 59%, but the visitors failed to make their territorial advantage count. Aubameyang was named man of the match for his goal and assist, having been a constant threat throughout the contest. With four points, Deportivo climbed to 7th place, while Valencia dropped to 15th with just one point. Can Valencia bounce back against Osasuna next week?
