Athletic Bilbao secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo at Balaídos, continuing their strong start to the La Liga season with a second consecutive win. The visitors came out flying and had the game wrapped up inside the first 22 minutes. Alex Berenguer opened the scoring on 20 minutes, latching onto Iñaki Williams' cross from the right flank and firing a stunning volley into the roof of the net. Just two minutes later, Robert Navarro doubled the lead, coolly slotting home after Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta's perfectly weighted through-ball. Celta attempted to fight back in the second half, but the Basque defence stood firm. Yuri Berchiche was booked on 48 minutes for a foul in midfield, while Robert Navarro received a yellow card on 61 minutes for a cynical foul. In stoppage time, Beñat Herenabarrena was also cautioned. The statistics show Celta had 12 shots with only 3 on target and 58% possession, while Athletic registered 13 shots with 6 on target despite having just 42% of the ball. Alex Berenguer was named man of the match for his goal and constant threat down the left flank. With seven points, Athletic climbed to 4th place, while Celta dropped to 9th with four points. Can Athletic maintain this momentum against Real Sociedad next week?
