Slavia Prague suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to Lens at the Fortuna Arena, conceding twice in stoppage time after leading 2-1 until the 90th minute. The first half was a cagey affair, but the game exploded into life after the break. Mikulas Konecny, who had come on as a half-time substitute, was shown a straight red card on 49 minutes for a professional foul. Despite being down to ten men, Slavia took the lead on 51 minutes through Danijel Sturm's powerful strike into the top corner. Abdallah Sima, a former Slavia player, equalised on 73 minutes after the ball deflected off a defender. Sturm then scored his second on 88 minutes, converting a free-kick delivery to send the home crowd into raptures. But Lens had other ideas. Florian Thauvin headed home on 90+1 minutes to level the scores, and two minutes later Ruben Aguilar pounced on a catastrophic defensive error to snatch all three points for the French side. Slavia had 18 shots with 5 on target and 37% possession, while Lens dominated with 26 shots and 8 on target. Thauvin was named man of the match. With three points, Lens sit 10th in the group stage table, while Slavia remain 24th. Can Slavia end their 16-match winless run in Europe against Sabah next week?
